An old post - God as our "syringe bulb"

I am weak but God is strong

Lately I have been suctioning Annya’s nose with a suction bulb, aka a syringe bulb.  Every time I do it, I’d have to pamper her or make her laugh before I bring out the suction bulb.  The mucus is strong, but the suction bulb and my determination are stronger than the yucky, slimy mucus/boogers.  Of course, Annya is not happy about the process, but surely she is happy about the result.  As a dad, I feel relieved when the nasty mucus finally got sucked out; a strong sense of accomplishment. I feel like I just saved my daughter.  I am her hero just because of that!

As Annya gets bigger, she does all these swinging of her arms, turning of her head, and kicking of her legs – just to stop me from getting those boogers out of her nostrils.  As a committed father, I have my ways of getting the mucus out anyway.  After suctioning, I comfort her once again.  She gives me this “satisfying smile”.  It’s like everything is the way it's supposed to be.

Why suction her nose?  Well… mucus causes bacteria and germs.  Baby doesn’t sleep well or eat well when his/her nostrils are plugged up with mucus or boogers.  Therefore, it would cause a baby to slow down his/her growth.

The more I think about this, the more I feel like there is a God-revelation behind all this suctioning Annya’s nose.  There are times that I want to resist God or reject God from time to time; it is in my nature that I want to run away from Him although I love Him.  He knows that I am weak!

I know God wants to clean up my nostrils and get rid of all the spiritual mucus in my nose, which could possibly stop me from breathing in the Spirit of God.  The Holy Spirit comes in with gentleness; He “pampers” with a big smile on His face, then He brings out this “sanctification” to suction out all that’s blocking me from receiving the Spirit of God.  At the end, God kisses me and rejoices over me with a sense of “accomplishment”.  “It is done!” – Jesus Christ

God is set to get those spiritual blockages out of our nostrils.  No matter how hard I try to run, to reject, to refuse, to deny, or to act out on God, He will not rest until He sees transformation in my life.  I am weak, but God is strong.  God, please help me to get rid of this spiritual mucus!
