I was talking with a brother about the power of focus one day. I gave a simple illustration that hopefully would make sense to him. Let’s say you are driving 150 mph; would you text your friends while driving? Most likely not, right? You would be very focused and serious about handling the vehicle. In the blink of an eye, you could lose control if you are not handling the wheel with care. That’s the power of focus.
In the Book of Luke chapter 4, Jesus talks about how the Spirit of God is upon him to preach good news. And in the Book of Luke chapter 5, Jesus says that he comes not for the healthy but for the sick.
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4:18-19)
“Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:31-32)
This is Jesus’ mission statement for life. That was his focus. You may wonder why you waste your time, money, and energy on things that you don’t need to get involved. You wonder why you don’t see a clear direction of where to go. That’s because of a lack of vision. Bible says, where there is no vision, people perish. Focus on your vision. Say it out loud~! Focus!
